new year, new trends. hello 2017
After a busy couple of months attending Maison & Objet in Paris and the Stockholm Furniture & Lighting Fair, we are back and ready to share our trend round up!
Colour, colour, colour…for 2017 there is a key shift in colour. Yes the neutrals are here to stay (we still love grey!) but there are two new ways to style and update your scheme.
From Maison the dominate shade was bottle green. Historically this strong colour is synonymous with luxury and opulence. On its own it creates a bold statement, however at the Parisian show it was regularly combined with nude pink highlights which softened the look and made it really easy to use. A great example of how to work with this colour palette was the Ferm Living stand. They used green on key pieces such as sofas, dining tables and desks, really anchoring the colour as the new trend, yet teamed it with accessories in soft pink and aubergine to make it accessible too. This ‘new mood’ style is ideal for interiors where you wish to create a cosy, grown up space with lots of depth and colour tone.
If your style is more bright and colourful then the sunshine yellow that shone through from the Stockholm Fair could be an ideal update for your interior scheme. Here lighting, wall paper, soft furnishings and nearly EVERY sofa was produced in this fun colour. Combined with neutrals it stays sophisticated and smart. The Muuto stand had a great display reflecting this must-have colour. There’s just something about yellow that brings joy and happiness into a home. It’s a great way to introduce personality into a neutral scheme and an ideal time to do it with summer just round the corner!
